The US Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit organization that certifies sustainable businesses, homes, hospitals, schools and neighborhoods through its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System.
In 2007, the USGBC published LEED for Schools, a tailored version of LEED that applies directly to the types of buildings that are most likely to house our products. In recent years, many of our customers have asked us for our products' environmental credentials, especially with regard to LEED.
Under the LEED rating system, buildings can qualify for a tiered environmental rating based on earned points. Wooden furnishings like our certified products can help earn points in a number of potential areas: recycled content, regionally extracted and manufactured materials, certified wood, low-emitting materials, and design innovation. This standard helps us make ongoing product sustainability decisions.
US Green Building Council membership keeps us in step with this pioneering environmental non-profit and developer of the LEED Green Building Rating System. If you’re pursuing LEED compliance, we can help.
Community Playthings products support LEED credits:
- MRc7: Certified Wood
- EQc4: Low-Emitting Materials - Furniture
