In the art studio students are able to explore things from nature such as pinecones, gourds and nuts. Student tree drawings line the back wall.

Authentic writing is essential in the first grade classroom. Here the students proclaim their class motto "Everyone needs a turn to learn".

Partnership with the family is an important element in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and equally important in Centerville, Ohio.
This is another display of family photos to connect home with the classroom. The teachers also added another type of lighting to soften the environment.
This series shows documentation of a bird project conducted during the last school year. Documentation is an important learning tool for students, teachers and families.
Just as birds weave natural materials to construct their nests, our
students were able to practice their weaving skills using leaves and
tall grasses.
Birdseed is interesting to touch, measure, pour and scoop.
The world right outside the window provides lots of opportunities for learning. Here the students can practice their observational skills by watching the bird feeders installed by last year's 1st graders.
