What Does Your Third Teacher Do?

Are the children in your preschool classroom deeply engrossed in their activities or are many at loose ends?  Are they exploring and interacting with their peers or do they seem restless and unfocused? If your classroom environment is really functioning as a “third teacher,” then differences in classroom behavior may well stem from room layout.
